strategic planning

There are zillions of text on strategic planning out there--however, does anyone have a "Real life" Model (or reference)that works well?

I have used a book about Strategic Planning in Health Care Organizations that was very useful. If you think it might be applicable let me know and I will dig up the title. I also found some good books at Waterstone (when it was alive) and suggest you browse the aisles at Barnes and Noble. Like anything else you have to find an approach that works with your own style.

I've used a software package called Business Plan Pro v3.

It's a great program that walks through various aspects of preparing a business plan providing you with topics and text examples to give just about anyone a hand in preparing the plan.
