IN BRIEF: Emergency Landing

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

MOSCOW -- A Tu-154 jetliner left Moscow with 75 passengers on board and made an emergency landing Wednesday in the Siberian city of Irkutsk after a hydraulic flight control system failed, an emergency official said.

Nobody was hurt in the incident. The plane circled above Irkutsk, about 4,200 kilometers east of Moscow, for about an hour to burn excess fuel before the landing, said Emergency Situations Ministry spokesman Viktor Beltsov.

The Soviet-era passenger jet belonged to the Sayany air company.
