Is there a place for handcrafted items in the 21st century? In a "want it now, throw it out tomorrow" era is there a need for quality, skill and originality?

I most certainly think there is a need! It would be a tragedy if all you could get were ready-made, identical goods, impersonal service, no consumer input. Absolutely awful! From school age to old age, I think handcrafting, be it Art, poetry, needlework, whatever should always be encouraged.(:o)
