need a dough kneader bucket

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I am new to this site. Found it about a month ago and have really learned alot. I am computer-challenged, so I really appreciate it being so easy to use.

I am looking for a source for a used bread kneader bucket. I have seen them in Lehman's catalog for 38.95. I have never seen a used one in this area.

I have arthritis in my hands so I can't knead dough (if I want to be able to use my hands and wrists the next day), so I can't make bread. I use my food processor to make and knead a small amount of dough for pizza. In the past, I have just made yeast "angel biscuits" because they don't require kneading -- you just keep the dough in the fridge and take out what you need each day. But I would like to be able to make loaves of bread this winter. I don't have a bread maker and don't want one, nor do I have a mixer that would knead several loaves of bread.\

I would appreciate any help in locating a dough kneader bucket or any other suggestions for kneading.

Connie, I have one I bought at an amish store. I'll look for the book to get the address of the company and post it later this evening. Peggy

Connie, this one is stainless steel and cost twice as much as the one you saw in Lehmans. Its made by the Back to Basics Co. and you can find them at http://www.backtobasicsproduct.com/catalog/grainmillsmixers.html If this doesnt go there for some reason email me and I'll try again. I really like mine because you can mix in it, wipe it out and let it rise in the same bucket. Blessings Peggy

Connie, If you can find a copy of "Making Do" you will find plans for a really neat homemade dough kneader made from a standard bucket. Also look for same in back copie of Countryside. John and Pat.........

I just looked on EBay. I entered "bread bucket" and came up with one with the current bid of $9.99 (reserve not met yet). It's stainless steel, and comes with an instruction book. $6.85 shipping plus insurance. FYI.

Connie, I tried to E-Mail you this link but it was sent back. Currently you can find a Dough Kneader on eBay. The link is: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=429126007 or you could just use the search at eBay and put in Dough Kneader. It is a one gallon metal bucket size currently for $5.00. Good Luck!
