Becky, we always let our popcorn dry on the stalks! Watch for the shucks to dry. My children loved this when they were small.. I have never frozen the corn staight from the field~~it'll be interestong to hear from those who have.

I've frozen corn in the husk, but removed the silks first. They tasted as good...nah, better, than any whole store bought corn w/out the husk. Don't know if you have to remove the silks, but those were the instructions I was given.

Becky, I didn't have freezer room this year--but yes, I have frozen corn on the cob many times! I agree with the other post clean out the silks-(and worms if there are any)-even remove some of the husk--but make for sure you leave enough to cover the corn good! I used old bread sacks that family saved for me--& put the corn in the bread sacks & froze them! Then in the winter when the snow is blowing fire up the grill & put those babies on that grill (after you have thawed them) mix butter with seasonings and dip the ear of corn in the butter. Ya can't have any better eating! Sonda in Ks.

Used to blanch corn on the cob then an elerly neighbor told me to just remove both silk and husk, clean thoroughly and freeze. Worked great for me but I also vacuum sealed which may have something to do with it.

We just cut off both ends and toss them in! I didn't know about removing silks. We've never had any problems. Last year I put them in freezer bags, but our mentors have done if for years "just tossing them in".
