gone for a while - father is ill

greenspun.com : LUSENET : DaVinci's Exile Test : One Thread

I'm headed out to South Carolina at 6am tomorrow morning -- I'll be offline for a couple of weeks. My father is quite ill, and probably will not recover, though that's to be expected with what's going on (leukemia, apparently).

Hope he makes it till next Saturday, which is his 87th birthday, but it's unlikely it'll be more than 24-48 hours.

Anyway, you all hold down the fort in Exile, eh -- and make sure if you hold a party that you recycle all those beer bottles afterwards and sweep up the trash. :-)

See you all in a couple of weeks!

On Hilton Head Island (lovely but HOT!!), and my father is still in ICU, but may pull out of the woods yet. We've still got our fingers crossed and candles lit, so to speak (and to mix metaphors terribly!).

His condition is stable but critical -- the emergency that brought me down here to paradise was possibly an allergic reaction to antibiotics he was given for a serious bacterial infection in his bloodstream. Now they have to find the infection (it's hiding - I'm sure one of the nurses who is an Exiler could explain this better than I), plus get the allergic reaction completely under control. It was apparently a really life-threatening reaction, plus quite unusual (when I remember what it's called, I'll tell ya'll, since it's so weird I'm actually interested in it).

Hope Exile is holding up. Would people do me a favor? I can get online late (11pm-ish Eastern Standard Time, East Coast U.S.) -- but only as a mug. If I am there, I can get to the Notebook, but not to Exile -- unless someone IMs me, or if I can Locate on someone in Exile. So ... could ya'll keep an eye out for a mug named Editrix? That'll be me!

Thank you all Soooooooo much for the prayers and thoughts and good wishes. And keep them up! I'll be down here for at least a few more weeks, possibly longer. We will see what happens!

Love to you all ......

Editrix all our thoughts are sent your way hoping the energy you and your family will need may be carried with them. our hopes of a solid recovery for your father and in turn all of you. sometimes strength does not come quickly, so i shall not wish for a speedy recovery for him. i just attempted to locat that mug you spoke of... she/it does ot appear to be around at this time. * smile* will keep looking for it though. if i find it i will surely let you know. * smirk*
