Chicken waterer

Hi Everyone, I got some metal chicken waterers at an auction a while back. There were some new, used, 3 gallon, and 5 gallon. Got 6 of these plus 15 feeders for $2.00! Some of the waterers don't stop when the trough is full so the water keeps pouring. I beleive they are level and I can't figure out why. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks

Must be a tiny hole in it in the top part. If air gets in the top the water will all run out.

I agree with Joe. Turn the top upside down and fill it with water, and look for the leak. I have found a drop of epoxy glue will fix these just fine. (Be sure to clean the area well first) GL!

Might need a new float.

Check the "plunger" thingie inside the inner water container. There is supposed to be a rubber stopper thingie in there. Really just a flat rubber washer that goes around the thing. I used a piece of an inner tube.... Did I just make any sense at all? Anyway, cut a piece of iner tube about the size of a quarter or half dollar and cut a slit in the middle. Slip it over the "plunger" and try that to see if you have built it correctly. Good Luck!
