Homesteaders Handbook by Israel Slay

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I have had my copy of this paperback book for 25 years! It has been thru many moves including to Hawaii. It has been thru 2 babies abusing it, that's why the covers, front and back are gone. I would really like to find another copy of this out-of-print book. It has been my homesteading bible from the very beginning. If anyone has a copy they would like to sell, just name your price cause mine is falling apart. thank you so much. karen

Karen, Look at: www.alibris.com

On left top is a place to search for a book by title. They have several right now, as low as $10.00. Remember, it will cost you about $3.95 to ship. If noone answers on the forum, you might look into this. good luck

Karen ~ I use Bookfinders (www.bookfinders.com) to look for out of print books. They probably wouldn't be any cheaper, but it's another resource.

I would like to know about your having lived in Hawaii -- were you involved in homesteading at all while you were there? Thanks!

One of the best sources for out of print books is a used book store called Powells Books in Portland, Or, The store is huge and covers about 2 city blocks.
The website is www.powells.com, if they dont have it there is a good chance that they can get it for you.

Hope this helps

Friends, thank you for your help. the search was successful and I have odered the book. I tried all three sites as I love books of all kinds. www.bookfinders.com had some books by jd of countryside. www.powell.com had no homesteading books of any kind. And first was last and www.alibris.com had three copies from 12.00 to 24.00. I got the $12.00 used but in good condition copy. I feel like I won the prize today! thank you all again. karen
