How to burn Video CD from a MPEG? (sorry if the question is stupid)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hi! Excuse me, if my question seems too stupid... But, anyway... A have a lot of MPEGs on my hard drive. I have a Matshushita (Panasonic)7502 CD - writer (burner) I use Adaptec's Easy_CD_pro to burn a CD-ROMs (I tried also with Win_ON_CD and Adaptec's Easy_CD_Creator)

But I can't imagine HOW TO MAKE A VIDEO CD from my MPEGs (so I can watch them on a DVD player later)

Will be grateful for any advices!

Thank You all in advance! Timur

you must run your mpegs through an encoder such as Panasonic's Mpeg encoding software to make your existing mpeg's VCD compliant.

The above address will get you to the website to purchase the software, if interested.

Your question is not stupid. It's just basic. Anyway you have to go through a process called "Video CD Authoring" to make a Video CD from those MPEGs you have on your drive. The best way to start for now is to wade through the entries in this forum. Have you read and analyzed any of them at all yet?? Take time out to go through most, if not all, the stuff on this forum.

Just because your files are MPEG does not mean they are video CD white book compliant. To author a video CD you must have the FULL version of Adaptec EZ CD creator or the Power Edition of Win on CD to make a Video CD. The lite versions that come free when you buy a CD burner do not make Video CD's. Once you get the full versions try and make a Video CD with your MPEGs. Both adaptec and winonCD will tell you if your MPEGs are Video CD compliant. If not you will have to run them through the Panasonic Encoder. Good Luck!

a vcd compliant mpeg has a video bitrate of 1150000, an audio bitrate of 22400, and a sampling rate of 44100. so when you use the panasonic encoder make sure you have it on these settings.

hey tim, i have also tried to convert mpeg's and avi files to a format capable of playing on a dvd player. but unfortunately i was unsuccessful . here is a site i found that did have the most information on the conversion process, maybe u will have better luck. http://www.geocities.com/mr_bubba_zanetti/vcd2.html and here is a site that had free downloads to help with the encoding process. http://www.mnsi.net/~jschlic1/ for what i understand of the process , u must first convert ur avi files into a format called vcd, or if they are mpegs u must first convert them to avi then to vcd , wich u will need an xtra program for . also the avi2vcd has a decompressor with it , u will probably have to use it since most avi and mpegs have compressed audio on them and the avi2vcd program cannot encode compressed audio files. anyone else with any ideas please leave a reply and maybe we can figure this one out. take care.
