Update:Jersey Cow

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Just was looking out my back window this beautiful spring evening at my jersey cow and her two adopted holstein calves. A short two months ago, when I bought her, she was just recovering from the birth of her own calf ( too big--born dead ) that paralyzed her for a day, then left her emaciated, frail and walking with a horrendous limp. At that time, I wasn't sure exactly what to do, I just knew I had to bring her home and try something after she looked at me with those jersey brown eyes! I posted here asking for advice, and got a lot of good and timely help. Today you would not believe she is the same cow--in the process of regaining her health, she lost all of her winter coat, down to bare skin--my friend insisted she was follicaly challenged! :)---, but now she has a new coat of white hair--she has filled out, and doesn't have a trace of a limp. She nurses her two calves, and gives us an occassional gallon of milk. Just wanted to thank all of you who shared your thoughts and ideas about what might help--you saved her life! Blessings--Lynn
