Response to arc or wire feed welders?

From what is sounds like, you would be building a tube and fabric type plane. A good resource if you are building any kit plane is the EAA http://www.eaa.org , and more specifly: http://www.sportair.com/ . They offer aircraft welding workshops, as well as workshops for lots of other steps of the building process. These workshops are held all around the country.

From another site, http://www.buildtofly.com/ , it looks like they are teaching TIG welding using a The Lincoln Square Wave 175 TIG (for building aircraft).

What I would do it look around at these homebuilt aircraft specific building sites, and learn from them.

What kind of plane do you plan to build?

TIG is the only way to go.
