Oliver mower

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I just acquired (for a good price - free) a Oliver 415 mower. It appears to be in really good shape. My question is does anyone out there have a similar piece of equipment and can tell me how the raising and lowering mechanisim works. The pulleys are all there and I think if I can find out how to thread the rope it will work. Thanks. This little sweety will save me several hundred dollars this summer, paying to get my hay cut.

Betsy,

Go to www.yesterdaystractors.com, there is a formum for implements and I think one for Oliver tractors also. Post your question there and I'm sure you'll get several responses.

Good Luck,

Bob

Betsy, can you ask a neighbor for help? Right off hand I don't know of anyone who is reprinting these old manuals. The manuals are collectable which means they're at flea markets and antique stores, but could easily be up to $20. A neighbor who knows about mowers should be able to figure out what needs to go where, even if she or he isn't familiar with this particular mower. Gerbil

Try Small Farmer's Journal for a manul for your Oliver. The gentleman who runs the magazine reprints and sells lots and lots of the old equipment manuals. He had one for my JD 7 mower, and for my cream separator. The address and phone number is in Countryside advertising.
