Following "10-Mila" on the internet

Mook posted a note on his homepage about following the Tio-Mila (Sweden's biggest relay race). The event is huge -- the men's race has hundreds of teams, each with ten runners. The women's race has five runners on a team. The women's race begins on Saturday afternoon (Swedish time) and finishes around dinner. The men's race begins after the women's event and finishes Sunday morning (typically around 7 or 8 a.m.).

OKers who want to keep an eye on Swampfox in this year's Tio-mila would do well to familiarize themselves with the official Tio-mila site and N3 Sport for updates and results. N3 Sport, at least, will have live updates on the leading teams. OKers are no doubt aware of Swampfox's recent minor leg injury. We have been assured that he will be well-rested for his role anchoring the IK Hakarpspojkarna 3 team. The race is expected to start at 1:30pm CDT April 29th and the winners will finish at 1:21am CDT April 30th. Keep an eye on the number 1 IKHP team as well - they have a shot at the title this year. It will be a late night if you wait up for Swampfox to finish, but it could be fun!

In addition to following Mikell Platt's progress, OKers will also be looking for Magnus and Sanna. (I'll try to find out which legs and teams they are running for).

I had thought about trying to follow the relay on the internet this weekend. I will try to find some other sources of live updates.

Is anyone interested in trying to "collaborate" on following Tio-Mila live?

I can think of several ways to do this. One (the easiest) would be to use the OK discussion forum to post thoughts and updates. Another would be to try to use some sort of "chat" program to discuss the event with other on-line OKers. I use Yahoo Messenger. Is Mook able to use Messenger (maybe the Java version)? Another possibility would be to try some other collaboration software (there is something called "crowdburst" at www.crowdburst.com that looks interesting).

According to the IF Thor homepage, Sanna will run the last leg for IF Thor's 4th team. Magnus seems to be running the 7th leg for IF Thor's 2nd team.

Sure, I can check in from time to time to see how things progress. I'm not sure how to fill up hour apon hour with detailed analysis. The OK Forum sounds like a simple enough opportunity. I suggest that someone like Spike set up some threads beforehand to organize things... might be good to have one thread that people can post running analysis. Another could be for post-race thoughts, etc. something like that. Things could get crowded otherwise.

We could figure out certain times of the day that will be used for chatting.

Something that would be helpful is to identify the best websites for information, then post them. Since I don't know Swedish, the Tio-Mila site is hard to figure out.

Here is how the OK forum will be used to follow 10-Mila.

I will create some new threads. One will be used for posting "live" info. Another will be used for discussion of the events.

Throughout the day, various OKers (at least Mook and I)will be scouring the internet for live info. Mook will focus on www.n3sport.com, while I will focus on Swedish-language sources. After the event, look for OK forum readers to post their comments, questions, etc. At least one forum reader (Mikell Platt) is participating in the event and will probably describe some of his experiences.
