Cast Iron Kettles

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I was just reading a thread on cast iron and remembered something which might be of use to someone. A woman I used to sew for has a little store (Ossipee Owl, in Center Ossipee, NH -- name is Mark and Laura Paige), and they have access to a limited supply of cast iron kettles at VERY good prices. We got two four-gallon ones and a twelve-gallon (which I can barely pick up). We paid fifty dollars ea. for the smaller ones, and only seventy five for the big one. If you check Lehman's catalog you'll see how good those prices are! So if anyone is interested -- these are round-bottom kettles with three legs and a bail, for using over an open fire -- look up their number and see if they can still get them.

Hi Kathleen, Sounds like a good deal. Do they have a web site or email that you could hyperlink us to? Or if you live in their area could you look up the store phone # for us? I love cast iron pots, nothing better! We have a big one we use for annual chili/mulligan parties. So much fun! Also, my husband is a dumpster diver & he just brought home a nice Lodge pot with a bail. The bail is bent so they decided it was trash. Their trash is my treasure.....Thanks, Jane

The phone number is 603-539-4296. Mark got the last two digits switched, but thanks for fishing the phone number out of the ether. I should have included it with the initial posting.

Many of you probably know this, but some of the younger may not. when you are lucky enough to get cast iron pots that have been used and have a build-up on the outside, throw that puppy into the fireplace for a day and all that old residue will burn right off.
