Orchids

greenspun.com : LUSENET : General Photo Critique : One Thread

This is the best image from a recent shoot. I realize that flower shots are just as ubiquitous as sunsets, this purpose of the shoot was to practice technique. I was mostly trying to capture the delicacy and grace of the bloom. What do you think? Did I succeed?

Well I guess this forum is dead. It's time has come. I will be removing it in the next few weeks unless anyone has a good reason to leave it around.

No, please don't remove. These forums have their periods of activity and inactivity. This one seems to be resting, that's all!

By the way, nice photograph. I love the saturation of the greens and reds. The composition is good, but I don't like the evidence of the sheet as a background. I'll bet this would be nice if the background was totally white, no detail whatsoever. Just a thought.

Meant to add that my Leica Photography discussion forum has seen quite a few weeks in a row without any activity (depressing!), then, all of a sudden, it sprouts wings for a little bit then seems to die. I don't know what it takes...

Yeah, I vote for keeping it, too. I'd like to see more people use it, but it's time may still be coming...

Delicacy and grace - good. I think a little more bloom would help. Don't care for the sheet, but that's not really what you're asking about. Nicely done, overall.

I also hope the photo critique forum is continued. Having a forum with discussions about images complements the Images of Photography forum, where there are no words. I often check back to this forum to look for activity. Nice photograph by the way.

I REALLY like the details in the flower petals. The flowers just pop right out at me.
