Old newspapers

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Exchange: A Forum for Antiques and The Arts : One Thread

I recently uncovered some old newspapers that were the filling in an old foot stool. They are date from December 1914 to March 1915. They deal a lot with the first world war and local issues. They are issues of: The Saturday Blade printed in Chicago, Il The Port Huron Times Herald printed in Port Huron, MI

There are also many fine editorial cartoons and advertisements. The Blade also uses color in many of there prints. Can anyone tell me if there is any value to these papers. They are in good condition considering that they were cut to fit in the stool. Any help regarding the value would be appreciated.

Response to Question on old newspapers

Hi Terry, as with most collectible & antique items value is determined by demand ,rarity and condition. For newspapers to be of any value they have to have content that is historical, such as the sinking of the Titanic, Lincoln's death or some other disaster on the front page and be in complete condition. If you are interested in checking values for historic newspapers this is an interesting site to visit http://www.oldnewspapers.com/
