Creating VCD on sony S525D DVD players : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hi all I have been tring to create VCD's that will play on my Sony DVD Player S525D. I can't seem to get anything to play. We have tried all sorts of burning software, adaptec, nero etc but it just doesn't seem to recognise any of them. Has anyone managed to work this out or is it just not possible?

Hi Boos: I have the same Sony DVD model, and it only read the CD-RW discs. I was create some VCD whit the Nero sofware and I don4t have any problem to read them, I think is the best software to create VCD.

Have you ever tried whith CD-RW discs?

sorry about my poor english. I hope this message help you.

In general, DVD players are not guaranteed to play neither CD-R disks nor VCDs (even factory molded ones). One of the reasons is that the laser used in the DVD players is different from the laser used in the CD players. For more info see

That Sony 525 DOES NOT recognize CD-Rs!! Recent Sony DVD set-tops, like the 725 (Best Buy, ironically), have only one laser pickup, unlike older Sony set-tops (like 515 and 715), and so can't read CD- Rs. Your VCD may be okay in fact; dump that Sony and get a Pioneer or Philips instead; these two brands are about the only DVD set-tops currently available that will reliably recognize CD-Rs and CD-RWs. Oh, and read the thread in this forum under playing CD-Rs/VCDs where this topic has been milled too much the consistency is now flour- like.:)

I have tried all the methods recommended in this forum, but none seemed to work until I did the following:

1. Use a CD-RW (Not matter what surface I used silver and otherwise, it didn't work if it were a CD-R.) My Sony DVD player evens says it won't read CD-R disks.

2. I used ULead Video Studio to convert and avi file to create MPeg formatted for VDC players.

3. I used the latest version of Easy CD creator to copy the mpeg to the CD-RW.

When I do all of the above, the VCD plays in my Sony DVD player, which btw claims to plan CDs, DVDs, and VCDs.

I hope this helps.

Sony DVD 525 can read following CD-R's: -PRINCO green and blue label -Network -db (Doeb.& Boeder) silver/blue

and all DC-RW's.
