Lionel train - value

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Exchange: A Forum for Antiques and The Arts : One Thread

I have a Lionel Warbonnet 1929, 27 guage train package...never been opened, it must have been a present for someone's grandchildren from a long time ago that someone forgot to give. I found it in my attic and I was wondering what it was worth. Can you help?

This one is almost impossible to answer, you have what most toy collectors dream about, a pre 1930 toy in the original box unopened. Because toys of this vintage, still in their original box unopened, seldom come up for auction there are no 'Past sales' figures to work with to determine value, what they would sell for is determined by the feeding frenzy of the toy collectors. In the case of your train,it's condition comparable to a uncirculated coin, the bidding would be fierce and the results impossible to determine in advance.
