Poultry community update

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Howdy folks,

I wanted to update everyone on how things are going at The Hen House. We now have 80+ members onboard and more joining everyday. I have been really impressed by the accumulated knowledge of these people. Everyone seems very helpful, especially trying to help new poultry keepers. There are members from 5 different countries, and some of those folks have really good ideas that we don't always think of here in the states. While there have been some problems with folks trying to load our home page, it would appear that MSN has corrected those problems. With that said, we would like to invite you to stop by, take a look around, and perhaps visit for awhile. Hope to see you there.

I think this will work. Perhaps the trouble may be that one needs to download the msn chat software first to go into the chat section? Wish I could be of more assistance.

Hen House

Looks like a great place to visit one of these winter evenings. I will be making a list of questions to bring along. :-)

Have lurked for a time, this is my first post. We have been homesteading for about 15 years now. I must say this old dog is learning some new tricks from all the kind folks at this forum.

I would love to join but hate it when these type of "communities" require you to have an e-mail account with them....more spam....I get enough already!

Howdy Jason,

I just wanted to tell you that we now have 99 members as of this writing and many of them have e-mail with other companies and many don't list any e-mail at all. So I have to infer that you can join and not sign up for MSN.Hotmail. Also, this is not one of those communities that sends out every message left on the message board and we also don't send out digests at the end of the day. The idea with this community is participation at the site. The only email most members get is when I send out a welcome message to new members. I personally get an email every day letting me know how many new members have joined and how many messages were posted to the message board, but I want that so I can keep up with the activity at the site. You certainly don't have to get nearly this much e-mail if you wish. So... Please come back and take a look around. If this looks like a place you would enjoy, go ahead and join up. If you change your mind, I will be happy to remove you from our membership.

Nathan, Thank you for your response. I tried to join WITHOUT getting a MSN/Hotmail account but was unable to. Probably I just don't know what I'm doing! Have some tips?
