soapmaking with an electric mixer

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I had a soapmaking article from this magazine (I think it was 1999 issue) with an electric mixer. I have totally misplaced it and was wondering if anyone has a copy/could get a copy/kept a copy of same that you would be kind enough to email to me (or fax, but it'll be long distance as I live in British Columbia, Canada). IF I remember correctly, the recipe could be easily doubled. Thank you to all who read and respond. Colleen

members.aol.com/oelaineo/soapmaking.html will have what you need. I've tried basic soap and it did good. I got it from another source but this one has the Blender/Mixer one. write me back if it helps

I use my stick blender when I make my soap, it sure cuts down the tracing time!!

I know this is a no brainer, but if you use a mixer or blender, use eye protection. I heard of a soaper who was blinded by a splash. Casey Makela uses a blender to make her 8 pound batches of goat milk soap. I love her book on milk soaps. Also if you go to http://maxpages.com/gentlyborne/mothersmilk_soap She has a recipe for, okay give me a chance to say this, mothersmilk soap. You don't have to want mothers milk soap, you can freeze the same quantity of goat milk or cows, whole milk. Be sure that you freeze the milk it seems to make it tougher for soap making. Then follow her directions. It is a good recipe. However if you can't get Safflower oil in your area you'll have to try to figure out what else to use. I have not figured this one out yet.
