Take a day off -- Happy Thanksgiving!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Hi everyone. Today is thanksgiving. Read the story of the original pilgrims. Almost half of the pilgrims died the first year. Many husbands lost wives and wives lost husbands. Children lost parents. It was a struggle for survival.

In the midst of a grim situation, the pilgrims invited their new friends (Native Americans) to join them in giving thanks to God. Don't let all the negative focus on survival cloud your attitude. After all of our preparations, our lives are still in God's hands.

Thank you God!

Um, with the greatest of respect, Jose, Thanksgiving is not a holiday for most people in the world. This is an international forum.

Thank you, Jose, I will sign off after posting this. Will go to Family Dinner ,laugh and play with the children, and lead the Prayer of Thanksgiving.

And please help with clearing the still-groaning table and doing the dishes, won't you, guys? We women would SO appreciate your not disappearing right after, only to appear when all's done, saying, "You need some help, honey?"

My warmest wishes to all Americans for renewed and strengthened family ties and togetherness this Thanksgiving holiday.

OG:

My dear bride laughed and cried with laughter at your first paragraph about "Not disappearing", only to offer to help when it is all done. {BG}

Y'all have a happy thanksgiving holiday.

See you in the Monkey House.

Oooh, is that the story where a bunch of poll^H^H^H^H pilgrims got on a boat to start a new life in a foreign land and didn't think to bring any livestock, seeds or agricultural tools with them? Still at least they had lots of nice trendy consumer goods (shoes and books) to distract them from watching their children starve because of their breathtakingly short sighted stupidity.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Wasn't it wonderful that our predecesors invited the Native Americans to join them for a meal...then almost wiped them off the face of the earth?

Happy Thanksgiving anyway.
