NYC's "Celebration 2000" Party of the Century Cancelled

New York City's "Celebration 2000" monster party of the century has supposedly been cancelled without explanation as reported on this afternoon's broadcast of Chuck Harder's "For The People" show. Don't know if the event's website was ever active, but it's now "under construction":

The show was to have been held on December 31, 1999 in New York City at The Javits Center. The event was to have been a dazzling millennium theme park with Sting, Aretha Franklin, Andrea Bocelli, Tom .... Seem kinda sudden and also VERY late for such a cancellation without explanation.

First the Broadway shows were cancelled for that night...now the monster party of the century. Could it be that they're finally "getting it?" Could Times Square be next?

See High-Priced Y2K Event Canceled. (Yahoo! News) It was cancelled because it was STUPID and way overpriced. Mayor Guiliani asked the Broadway shows to cancel that night because the city was expecting a record number of visitors to Times Square. Most agreed, some didn't particularly like it, but it was voluntary.

Don't get your knickers all in an uproar! Nobody's "getting" anything! Follow the money, and the easy explanation!

Not only were the tickets overpriced (starting at $1000), which money could be used better for other things(...such as rice!), but parking there is SUCH a pain!

You've GOT to be kidding...$1000/ticket? I'm afraid Jesus Christ would have to be the one appearing in person for me to even contemplate buying a ticket.
