NEW YORK What if there was a Party of the Century but nobody wanted to go?

Lackluster sales of high-price tickets for Celebration 2000, the lavish New Year's Eve gala planned at the Javits Center, led to the abrupt cancellation of the event on Monday, the Daily News reported in Tuesday's editions.

But producer Steve Leber told the paper he was looking to hold a scaled-down version of the event at a smaller venue, with cheaper ticket prices.

Celebration 2000 was supposed to star a multitude of famous names, including Andrea Bocelli, Aretha Franklin, Sting, Enrique Iglesias, and Tom Jones. Tickets prices started out at $1,000 and went up to $2,500.

Those who bought tickets will get a refund, Leber said.

Leber said a smaller concert would feature Bocelli, Franklin, and Sting. No location has been found yet, but he said ticket prices would range from $75 to $375.

A spokesman from the public relations firm representing the Javits Center refused to comment.

Jeez, i can see why immediately. Now if they had Lonnie Brookes, KoKo Taylor, Jonni Lang, and Luther Johnson, they might have a show.
