lube jobs?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Just got an oil change today w/a major oil change firm (not Jiffy Lube, but this company has about 5,000 operators). Asked about their Y2K compliancy (all their data on my vehicle is in their computer and I want to continue using the same oil - if possible - as it saves wear and tear on the engine), and the clerk told me that they're still using 2 digits, and they can't read data on 2000 model cars - in other words, they can't place parts orders (e.g., oil filters, etc.), or anything. Then the clerk went on to explain that "the company is supposed to have it fixed by the end of the year." He didn't even know who was responsible, or anything. The funny part was when he said that Q-Lube was really in a world of hurt, because they hadn't even started working on Y2K. Boy, to think I got rid of my oil pan when I started paying for oil changes. Guess that's another thing to buy.
