blacklist

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

British pilots are about to be handed a blacklist of airports at risk from the Y2K Bug.

Y2K News UK understands the British Airline Pilots' Association (BALPA) is giving the list to its members following a survey, which we reported on back in July.

At the time, we told you the survey was believed to have highlighted serious problems in some countries' Y2K preparations.

And BALPA general secretary Chris Darke told us members were concerned about the safety risks involved in flying to, or even over, those countries highligted in the survey.

He also said a ban would protect both pilots and airline crew, and holidaymakers.

But BALPA wanted to give the airports concerned time to address any issues.

Y2K News UK understands that time is now up.

We have been told BALPA has either just given or is about to give the list to its members.

It will allow them to boycott unsafe destinations over the New Year.

That will undoubtedly cause chaos for thousands of travellers who have booked flights to and from the suspect airports.

Y2K News UK understands most of them are in eastern Europe, Africa and South America

So ... does anyone here know a British pilot? Or to put it another way: how long will it be before that list is leaked to the media, and/ or to this ever-vigilant forum?
