Scary Gary outdoes himself

The lead post in today's Gary North "latest links" is even gloomier than usual. Any opinions? Sorry, I don't do hot links.

If its true then it is pretty gloomy, but Gary has posted some "friend of a friend" stuff before (some from here I think) which was pretty wacky reading.

Until we get names or something we can put a finger on, its just too little to get worked up about. I mean I am concerned but I am not going to "run to Costco" everytime I see one of these "FOAF" stories.

As usual, there are no names named. You still have to consider this as rumor, even if it is very compelling. The part about engineers and liability was very interesting and rings true.

North posts these unsubstantiated things sometimes, usually because they conform to his own opinions. I think it detracts from his otherwise well researched site and gives ammunition to his critics.

I bet the company he's talking about is TAVA/Beck. The numbers he quotes jibe with what we heard from that guy (I can't remember his name) a few months back.

I believe that we are being lied to regarding y2k. Clearly I am not alone in that belief. Like most individuals, I have trouble believing that the lie is that big.

Why?

I believe the guy from TAVA/Beck was Cameron Daley. I also believe he has already left that company.

" My guess is that Mr. CEO has anguished about whether to make this information public, but in the end decided that his integrity did not permit him to violate the contractual obligations to his clients."

Why does that sound like a disconnect to me?

Mr. CEO thinks a collaps is coming.

Mr. CEO thinks of himself, as does his "friend" as having "integrity".

Mr. CEO decides that holding true to contracts to his clients is more important than coming out and speak up to save lives of millions.

The disconnect is unbelievable, but it is there.

Gary North must be desperate for that collaps to happen.

I was given the following information yesterday from a very reliable source within the preparation supplies industry. I myself can not prove this, so names will be left out.

Two very big personalities in the Y2K arena have just put together large deals to market long-term storage food for the next two months. I was told to watch for increased volumes of bad news coming from both of these individuals. One is a compass point and the other is a hotel chain.

Myself, I have never paid a lot of attention to either of these two people but it would be offensive if their news output was designed for the sole purpose of selling products for personal gain. Pay attention and draw your own conclusions.

If Mr CEO were to come 'out of the closet' with his opinion and what-ever facts, How would the regular media treat him and his story?

The storyline for the public is a 3 day storm, haven't you read!

He goes public, his company goes down the tubes with all the employees and joe sixpack does not care a bit.

He may not be 'that' stupid or naive like you are apparently !!!

I used to work at Entergy. About two years ago I asked about y2k in a meeting. I was told that all the computers were ready. I kept on asking questions about the embedded chips in the plants and finaly the programmer that was in charge of the meeting was getting put out with me about these y2k questions spoke up and said all the computers are ready except the ones that run the plants controllers, they can not be fixed. I shut up after that and started my preps that day.

Not:

How could anyone knowing this and coming out publicly change anything at this point? If such a story came out (was allowed to come out) and was believed by a majority of the public there would be no way for everyone to prepare. There just isn't the reserve in the pipeline. The effects of preparation itself on that scale would be catastrophic. There is no time left to save millions. What would really happen if such a person appeared on, let's say, Sixty Minutes and made such a disclosure is that for the next week they would personally be trashed, dragged through the mud and their life made very unpleasant. In two weeks no one would remember what they had said other than it was wrong and motivated by some desire to cause TEOTWAKI. Nothing would happen. What do you think it would take to get people to believe? They don't really want to know.

Blaming Mr. CEO, or blaming Gary North (?!) for this problem is pathetic blame-shifting behavior. It'll be quite a stretch to blame G.North in January!

hamster is once again an "annoying little retard," (-KOS) popping from post to post and pretending that data like this are not emerging with in any larger context of probable failure. Sneer. Blame the messenger. Ridicule. Pretend that the Navy report never occured.

We are tired of you, retard - contribute something to the dialog or get lost.
