Link needed for City of Florence water plant story

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Does anyone have a link or more info about the City of Florence water treatment plant story? It was posted on this forum on Sept 23, 1999by spider under the title "Water plant unexpectedly shuts down" but I can't seem to find it in the archives.

I'd appreciate any info y'all can produce -- especially whether or not the programming glitch was Y2K-related.

Thanks!

d,

The thread by spider you're looking for is at:

http://www.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=001SQx

Spider didn't provide a link on that thread, though, and there's no way to tell whether or not this had anything to do with Y2K. If you're really interested, you might call Florence on the phone for more info.

The story was in the local paper. There
was no mention of it being a Y2K glitch.
It was a computer system glitch.
