FEATURE ARTICLE: Leadership on Y2K is MIA, by Steven C. Davis

"A lack of leadership on the Y2K issue has left Americans uncertain about what to do to prepare. What does President Clinton think about the risk of Y2K disruptions? No one really knows -- he hasn't said much about it. Some survivalists are preparing for the end of the world, but most Americans are doing nothing. Should they be able to look to their leaders for prudent preparedness advice?"

This really sucks. At least if we were ALL scared, those of us who feel scared would feel better. (Sounds stupid, huh?)

No, Mara, it doesn't sound stupid at all. The sense of isolation is what gets to you. If I only had someone to be scared WITH, I probably wouldn't be that scared.

Clinton has TOTALLY FAILED in his responsibility (once again).

This really could be a big deal.. In the mean time we get the old silent treatment. Just like a lawyer.. Don't go on record with anything.

If there are problems, we need to make sure that it is laid at his feet.

I'm here, I'm there,

We are not alone. We have each other here on this forum to reinforce our preparations. There is some heavy trolling and baiting and manipulation, but there is also some honest comradery. It takes some looking for but it's here. The prep forum is even better at reinforcing preparation.

Uncle Bob: You asked " Should they be able to look to their leaders...?". IMHO partly yes and partly no. Proper leadership would have started Americans doing some prudent preparation. Should we have expected that from the present regime? I think not. Until recently I have always had confidence in Americans to stand on their own two feet and make their own decisions without having to be told what to think and do. Now I am not so sure. Democracy is about making decisions on your own and living with them. Tuesday here in North Central Texas 8% of the eligible voters decided for 92% of the voters how their money was going to be spent etc. and what new legislation would be enacted INCLUDING amending the state constitution! If Americans are not mature enough to decide how to vote on issues effecting their pocketbook and the laws they live by, how in God's name can anyone expect them to make a decision on something as simple as a possible disaster coming with preparations being a win-win scenario? I am praying that I am wrong in my assessment.

And from Bill Clinton we expect what? Honesty? Integrity? Courage? C'mon folks......
