The metaphysics (or theology) of Y2K denial

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

God has been said to have three attributes, on a different scale from the holy trinity of Christianity. These are: Creator, Preserver, and Destroyer. Collectively, we have ignored and, to a large extent, forgotten the Creator. When this occurs, we inevitably forget about the Destroyer as well, for if nothing is created, nothing is destroyed. All that remains is the Preserver, the status quo which cannot be disturbed by anything, because it alone exists in our perception.

Y2K denial is the result of people being "Romans 11" in their daily walk through life. God has given them the spirit of blindness, to preserve their souls, so they would not have to be judged. This applies to most people on earth today, and these will be the "students" in the millenium, under the instruction of the "Sons of Zadok" spoken of in Ezekiel 44.

Bill, be very careful about what is "said" of God... all the answers are in the book, but it is IMPERATIVE to use a Strong's concordance in order to understand the words used in the manuscripts and what they meant when they were used. How else to eliminate man's defiling hand down through the age?

PLEASE,PLEASE PLEASE can the dogma, God has nothing to do with encrypted chips or system interconnectivity. I am a Deist who is sick to death of the scripture quoting(gum beating) lurkers. Fall on your knees in the silence of your rooms as directed by Jesus but can the diatribes and cast not your pearls before we swine!

I detect fear in you... no one here was praying, so no need for a "little closet" now is there. If you swine don't comprehend, don't read.

I like Ezekial 44, but I think 25:17 is a little more fitting,

"The paths of the righteous man are beset on all sides, by the inequeties of the selfish, and tryanny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepards the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is trully his brother's keeper, and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengance and furious anger, those who attempt to poison, and destroy MY BROTHER. And YOU WILL KNOW, my name is the LORD, when I LAY MY VENGANCE UPON THEE!!!!"

Okay, that was just a paraphrase. Actually, it was just some heavy shit I thought I'd lay on a brother before I capped his ass. Oh well, live and let die.

Patrick: c'mon. I'm not a biblical scholar, but I am an historian, and when I read the King James Bible, the language, values and collective 'personality' of 16th c. Europe come through loud and clear. What is this "man's defiling hand" nonsense? The Bible is layered w/ human tradition and interpretation.

That's why it's valuable to us--it's the report of cultural elders' interactions w/ God as they understood God. Contemporary biblical interpretation simply adds another layer to the text. More to the point, w/ out the active engagement w/ the text that is central to interpretation, the Bible is no help to us at all.

Ever read anything on the Gnostic Gospels?

What was that about canned dogma? I haven't been able to find any for over a year. Do you have a source?

Silver ion...

Sorry to disappoint you on thgis score, but King James was just a sodomite that pressed 90 or so SCRIBES into service, and the result, (in a mere 9 months - mind you), was todays King James Bible. Are you aware that the apochrypha was included in the original? The KJV was created for the express purpose of eliminating the 1560 Geneva Bible, it had the margin notes of Knox and Calvin et. al. and there was far too much truth getting out to the masses. They hadn't even had access to the book for all that long.

One classic example: In the book of Ezekiel, the word "pestilence" - do you know what the word means as Ezekiel used it? Most of today's apostate churches will teach that this is disease, bugs, etc. But as Ezekiel understood it, the word "flavoring" if you will, is destruction, destroying, tearing down. But in the Hebrew, one must always follow the word to the "root word." In this particular case the root word was "speech." Thus, speech that destroys... that flood of lies poured out after the woman. Rev. 12.

The Scripture is not to be read over, and inside there are many references to "man's defiling hand at work. Incidentally, there has been much research done into who King James was, and he was definitely of the lower order of being. Conspiratorial to the core and certainly no friend of Christianity.

The problem is as you say, that the Bible IS layered with human tradition and man's "interpretation" - when it is NOT open to such. The Bible will intrepret itself quite well, thank you, and the human element should be removed to the greatest degree possible; hence, the study back into the ancient languages and manuscripts
