Why is there a UN flag used as the backdrop for the CNN coverage of they downed aircraft (3:58 P.M. ET)?

The plane went down in international waters and negotiations regarding who would take charge/be involved in the investigation were ongoing...at least that's what I heard on early morning news.

Since the U.S. has already gone out and tampered with all of the evidence, what would be the point of anyone else doing an investigation? They are forced like we are, to accept whatever these manipulating bastards want to feed them.

Shelia is correct. The US had to have permission to lead the investigation [this has been granted]. This is the law. Fortunately, we presently have a government that tries to obey the law [unlike the 80's]. Hope this helps.

One thing that was not happening in our society in the Bush era and prior was the internet. It was up and running, but it had not metamorphosized into what it is today.

Z1X, are you telling me that FileGate, BloodGate, Ron Brown, Waco, Ruby Ridge, the McDougals, Clinton's list of dead associates, Mena Arkansas airport/cocaine running, and I could go on for SENTENCES...are not legitimate concerns that Clinton and company are one of the most corrupt executive branches in recent history? You obviously do not recall House Whip (Tom Delaney's?) remarks December 1998 suggesting that all Senators should visit the Ford building where the documentation for the Clinton impeachment and much more was housed. He said a perusal of that information would dramatically alter the impeachment vote.

I don't happen to think Reagan, Bush, Nixon, and Carter were dirt free either. There was quite a bit of scandal and dirty doings that did not go public (read: reported on in the mainstream media). How's that you ask?

That's the kicker. You actually have to ask? I suppose this means that if the Washington Post and the New York Times don't print it, it doesn't exist as reality to you. Please correct me if I am wrong.

The flag to which you refer (white w/dark lettering) was standing on an upright flagpost and was folded over, so that the only letters you saw were UN. These are the first two letters of: United States Coast Guard.

I have stood in that very building on Air Station Cape Cod, and I can tell you that there are no UN flags there.

I can guarantee you that it was a U.S. Coast Guard flag. Also printed on that very flag is the Coast Guard motto: Semper Paratus (always ready)

This makes sense. The UN official color seems to be light blue. The UN flag is light blue, and they issue light blue burets and neck scarfs to any troops working under UN authority.

I am sorry, but I am a liberal Democrat, and I cannot *immagine* how any person, Democrat, Republican, Reform, Whig, Anti-Masonic (yes, there was such a party at a time when dark, wicked conspiricism used to disturb Americans) libertarian, conservative, whatever can see this government as one which operates lawfully.

Bush was a crook. At least the conservative-minded people in this forum have the intellectual honesty to acknowledge, and even explicate it.

Almost all these diehard Clinton supporters have the same routine: when you point at the crimes of the administration, they say "That never happened! It's a conspiracy theory! Don't think it is possible as long as things are "ok". I know several people who are on prozac and trying to get them to do anything like "thinking" or getting they're car fixed, or replacing a broken window, or just getting off they're butts and doing something is a monumental effort. Not that I try with all, just a young lady who got dupped into prozac.

I asked her how her boyfriend was doing and what were his future prospects for getting on in life. "Well...", she said, "he's trying to go to court to sue the government so he can get on welfare."
