I thought this white/green striped pumkins were so cute. I'm a city girl! I got one for my boyfriends mother(they're in the country) and she doesn't know what to do with it. Could someone please explain how you cut it...how you bake it....what color is it? I need a recipe of what to do with it. Please take the time to write me a note if you no anything about green/white striped pumkins. It's not a gourd!! They are 1.50 in arkansas. Thanks so much,Terri

Cushaw squash is green and white striped, orange fleshed and is a better tasting "pumpkin" than many of the orange ones. I have always seen it with a neck, but we all know about what goes on under the full moon in the pumpkin patch. Split it and use any favorite winter squash recipe.

Sounds like cushaw melon or squash. It can be used just like pumpkin or butternut squash. The easiest way to cook is to split in two down the middle and place in big pan with an inch or so of water in bottom and bake till soft. It can then be eaten plain, with cinnamon and/or brown sugar, make a pie out of it or any number of ways.

We have had better results, for our tastes, by putting pumpkin or squash halves or quarters cut side down over a large baking pan (to catch juices that cook off.) This gives us a drier product which we still end up straining in a wire colander.
