FBI warns of Y2K race violence

Updated 6:20 PM ET October 20, 1999

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Federal Bureau of Investigation said Wednesday it was warning local police about the danger of apocalyptic violence by white supremacist groups spurred by the dawn of the year 2000. In a statement, the FBI said it had wrapped up "Project Megiddo," a study of potential crimes "by individuals or domestic groups who attach special significance to the year 2000."

The study highlights the dangers of fringe white supremacists "who seek to initiate a race war," it said. It was being distributed to law enforcement personnel nationwide.

The project was named for the ancient battleground in Israel associated with Armageddon, the biblical scene of a final battle between the forces of good and evil, prophesied to occur at the end of world.

"The report is intended to...(warn) of the unique challenges that may be presented by extremists motivated by millennial agendas," the FBI said.

The report also cited a Year 2000-related threat from those who fear the United Nations "will initiate an armed takeover of the United States" and set up a "One World Government."

FBI Director Louis Freeh told Congress earlier this year that the possible targets of such groups included Jews, non-whites and their supposed "establishment allies, i.e. the federal government."

In its statement, the FBI said it was aware that some militia groups had moved to purge violent extremists. "These elements are often very small cells or lone actors," it said.

Only Louis Farrarkan has the answer.. He can stop this white rage.. or maybe Bill Gates can donate 1 billion to help to pay off the socialists who created this mess..

I read the USA Today article on this and found one reference especially disturbing. An FBI spokesman mentioned individuals or groups who attach religious significance to Y2K or the new milennium. So if I attach religious significance to it/those things and say so out loud I am suspect?

Sheesh.

I might be a tad paranoid after reading this forum for months (or maybe just a tad more *aware* than the average bear), but it seemed as if this "project" could easily be a cover for the FBI giving local police depts tips on dealing with general mayhem.

Who knows?

One domestic group that attaches special significance to the year 2000 is our very own fedgov. Of course, they don't count. They're the good guys and NEVER COMMIT ANY CRIMES!

For them to have named it "Project Megiddo" is suspect! Biblical. Religious. Doomy. We'd getter watch the FBI velly closely. They sound like a hate group.

This is currently headline highlighted at Drudge Report.

I am having a hard time making a connection between Y2k and KKK. It just seems like such a stretch for the FBI to be projecting conflicts motivated by millennial agendas.

They seem to be assembling a long list of things /people /groups /events /situations on which to blame any disruptions that may occur.

Disgruntled computer types, terrorists, sunspots, hackers, hoarders, religious folks, foreigners, dishonest opportunists, government haters, (who am I forgetting?)

I am not even remotely defending these groups most recently added to The List, but they seem like an easy target for the focus of blame.

Who is next?

For the record:

According to the Word (the bible), Armegedon does NOT signal the end of the world but rather the BEGINING of the 1,000 year reign of our Lord, Jesus the Messiah. Then, according to the Word (the bible), Satan will be loosed again for a short season from his chains in the bottomless pit to deceive once again those on earth who will be deceived. Then God will do away with him (satan) by casting him in the Lake of Fire THEN God will destroy this world and the universe and create a new earth untainted by sin and suffering.

Just thought some might want clarification.

>Who is next?

We're all next. The goal is to put so many in prison that it becomes possible to make the society itself a prison, i.e., a totalitarian police state.

So all you folks out there who are reading any of the Tribulation Force series are in deep trouble, y'hear? Them two fellers who wrote all about the Rapture and the Four Horsemen and all that must be under round-the-clock surveillance.

I have visited a few "racist" sites on the web, but have yet to find one that wants to initiate a race war. Some groups consider a race war to be simply inevitable; but then many people with no racist attitudes do also. That's not the same thing as wanting it to happen, any more than prepping for y2k means that you want the infrastruture to break down.

The real issue here is not extremist groups, but rather the massive loss of faith in government by ordinary well-meaning people.

This has become my rubber stamp on this issue...

Want to know what my milita (Not mine, really. Just the one I'm in.) is doing for the time period around roll over?

We are stockpiling supplies, like turkey, ham, cranberry sauce (the nasty canned kind that keeps the shape of the can when you dump it out), cider, potatoes, canned veggies, yams, and stuffing mix. We stash this over abundance of holiday fare (much more than we could possible eat. It must be high capacity ASSAULT FOOD!!) at serveral food banks around the city in the hopes that they will feed people with it. Then, when everyone is stuffed to the gills and too full to move, WE STRIKE!!

Why do we do this? Because we are EVIL. Just read USA Today if you don't beleive that.

Watch six and keep your...
