handheld sheep shears, sharpen?

Does anyone know where I can read about sharpening a pair of hand held sheep shears? I have tried to sharpen them as recommended for scissors, and it doesn't seem to work. Thanks!

First you should take them apart if you can. (Some don't come apart) Then they should be sharpened at a 35 degree angle all the way across. This can be accomplished on a fine grit stone or grinding wheel. You can find the degree of angle by using a drill gauge. After sharpening they need to be deburred in the opposite direction that the shears close. This can be done with a fine stone or by spreading the blades apart from the closed position, (you would take both sections and while holding them firmly against each other pull them apart as if opening the shears. E-mail me if you need better instructions. - Don
