how many of us will give our lives to (hopefully) insure a chance of survival for our families? Is longevity over rated?

I'm not giving up my life for anyone. If there is a socialist or communist or Iran the new Xtain nation revolution in CA than I may be the first one on the rooftops with a machine gun against the unpatriotic.

you have been taking this evolution thing too seriously. what ever happened to the value of a human life as opposed to a set of genes? geesh. what's sa matter--doesn't anybody love you? if you've got a wife that's treating you like a sack of genes, dump her. she's no good for you.

Of course most of us who are parents would give our lives to save the lives of our children, and the current lack of faith in God creates a "live-at-any-cost" mentality, but we are NOT just an accessory if we have "already spread our genes".

Every social group or culture needs the accumulated wisdom and experience of those who are beyond the "gene-spreading" stage. One of the major problems our culture has is that it has denigrated tradition and the cultural "rules" that contribute to a healthy society for the past 30 years.

The boomers' notion that one could never trust anyone over thirty (I am one of the oddballs of that misguided generation) are primarily responsible for the social and cultural mess we are in.

If I could send one piece of advice to the generations coming along after ours, it would be to reinstate the traditional lifestyle and values we tossed out as "old-fashioned and restrictive". They may have been, but they worked much better than the present values are working.

Just because these "old-fashioned" values do not produce utopia or satisfaction for everyone does not imply that they are without overall merit, in my humble opinion.

But, even my children pay me no attention on this subject. Don't misunderstand, they are fine upstanding productive citizens, but they think that they can raise the same without actually staying home and giving up the material possessions chase for a solid family life.

Funny how people assume that they can change just one or two things, and that nothing else will change..............

Jim

My jeans have spread quite a bit since I started flying a computer. I don't get much exercise at work anymore.

You'll be shooting at me. Thanks for at least being up front about it. The honesty is a refreshing break from Clintonistas and their double speak.

The answer is no, I take it? "tommyguns" frequented another forum I enjoy - The Government of the United States. Your writing styles and opinions are strikingly similar.
