New military unit for domestic deployment Cohen says Americans should 'welcome' troops on home soil

A snip...

"In July, WorldNetDaily reported the new measures would end the requirement for local law agencies to reimburse the federal government for any local use of military equipment, as well as enable the Department of Defense to deploy military troops in cases of anticipated or actual terrorist attacks."

I REALLY LIKE the concept of "Anticipated or actual attacks". Why, ANYONE can claim that an attack is IMMINENT and then.......PRESTO, can you say 4th amendment, 1st ammendment, 2nd ammendment...... NOT ANYMORE!!!!! NOT with the HOME COMMAND pointing an Abrahms at your house.

Your puny SKS or Mini-14 or 10 guage will not even inconvenience that piece of materiel.

(Though either a sabotted 10 ga. shell with a .223 for a projectile [or duplex a .223 and a .357] might be interesting, or reloading a 10 ga shell with fletchets might make for interesting conversations outside while they try to pick you out from under the windows with .50 cal fire.)

Night train, who has REAL problems with MILITARY trying to enforce laws, unless they're MP's.

And why do MPs get special dispensation in your view? Inquiring minds, ya know.

Donna,

MP's (Military Police) have police training, including the "rights of the accused" parts. Regular troops don't. They just get the the "Good guy, don't shoot. Bad guy, shoot to kill." training.

And since it would be a given that they (the troops) are the good guys and everyone else is probably a bad guy, what are the likely results for anyone thought to be a suspect?

Hint: too many troops believe the T-shirt slogan "Kill 'em all, let God sort 'em out."

These days, we 'grunts' do more civil disturbance training that I care to think about. Constant training. Reacting in Urban Eviornments. Not just the MPs anymore. They regularly train us in riot control, stuff right out of the sixtys. Sheilds, faceplates, batons, the works...
