Militia groups and the Media

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Militia groups were all over the media. Now there is nothing being said or written about them. If stories/reports about militia groups preparing for Y2K start appearing in the media it could be to set up one more scrapegoat for the government to blame for Y2K problems that require martial law and/or weapons confistication. There is trhe Nightline series on Biowar. Will there appear shows about militias stockpiling? Investigative reports about why militias are stockpiling? I am looking for thoughtful replies not polly blabbering. Thank you, this is my first.

The 'terrorist threat' PR campaign was experiencing greater success, so they ran with that one.

Yeah. And the thing about this stuff that cracks me up is:

ever notice that when you own a small tract of land with a house and a few animals, it's a "farm"? and When the same house comes under attack from the fed's it's a "compound"?

I can see it now-

"Government troops seized and secured hoarded supplies at numerous compunds of the fringe right today......"

I agree with Will Continue. Terrorists constitute a much more "credible" scapegoat. Militia groups are based on "home" defense, which means that if you try to blame, say, the North Michigan Militia, for something that happened in Kentucky, the idea would be laughed at, by even the the most ardent government supporters. Blaming Bin Laden, on the other hand, would play anywhere. The easiest scapegoat is the one that is the most universal.

That is right will and Bok....

But think about this. The Russians have set up bin Laden as the terrorist supreme. They just announced that he has upwards of 20 suitcase nukes already in the U.S. So when the stuff starts, no one will suspect the Russians or Chinese. They will be looking for bin Laden....who by the way, is an Afghan freedom fighter. He has fought the Russians all his life, which is why the Russians have covertly made him the scapegoat for the embassy bombings etc. We need to know who are real enemies are.....b

B...Where'd you come up with the Bin-Laden/Russkie/Nuke connection? Any hard evidence? (Not flaming...really would like to see)

As far as the Militias go, it's all in the use of semantic keywords used by the media/propogandist/writers. Certain words are EXPECTED to illicit a pavlovian response by the listener. The programming can be done over a period of time in by directly connoting the word to a negative-reinforced action/deed. By classing the 'militias' during the McVeigh/OK city Bombing, and the subsequent issues dealing withthe militias, we, as a nation have been re-programed by the establishment in order to have a negative reaction to it. Other recent additions to the negative feedback keywords are "survivalist", "horder", "panic/fear monger", "militant", or any other gun-related words. In fact in the aspect of guns, why is it you are a 'sports fan', but a 'gun nut?' Does this seem fair? I think not.

As far as the 'stockpiling issue', I'd say yes...as the fear increases, we will see ourselves becoming more 'under the microscope' in a vain attempt to demonize anyone who has the foresight to prepare for a possible bad time ahead. ALL OF US will be grouped, be it polly or doomer in the same catagory as contributers to the 'fear factor'. Be aware. And as my old D.I. would say, "EYES OPEN!! EARS OPEN!! MOUTH SHUT!!

Billy-Boy,

Here is the evidence you seek:

Thanks B.

just one point that the author of the article touched on tho....

SNIP

" Can we really believe that the anti-Soviet bin Laden would work closely with former Soviet commandos who were his deadly enemies in the past? And what sort of Russian special forces soldier would assist an anti-Russian terrorist? "

UNSNIP

having trained w/ the russians, and the Spetsnatz for that matter, the overwhelming answer is yes, the Russians, even the most patriotic of them, will do or work for damn near ANYTHING or ANYONE for money. Bin-Laden himself is known to be and referenced as "the Saudi multi millionare turned terrorist" This guy is more like a loose cannon in the world, or one helluva front for whomever wanted to use him. Guys like this just don't appear overnight. Especially when he's got the bankroll he supposedly has. If anything, the twin blasts in the African countries was used as almost a test of sorts...IE exploding two devices simultaneously at a range of over 300 miles apart. Sounds like a test of a Command Communication and Control run to me...Makes sense?

Actually, the problem is that the FBI is gettiing a LOT of cooperation from the Constitutionalists in hunting down the REAL baddies in the White Supremacist movememnt(s). They can't afford to have their hands full of Constitutionalist Militia Help and have that sort of PR hit. They realize that they are exposed and that the Const. guys have a small, pointed stick pointed at their uncovered and unprotected gonads.

BB, the real enemies of the U.S. are any countries that will not subscribe to the tenets currently being shoved down the remaining collective nationalist throats. The U.S. no longer subscribes to nationalism, as we have already been *subdued*. We just don't know it yet. You can thank your local media outlet, for their part.

Do a little reading on the subject. "Real enemies" will become redefined as those peoples who seek democracy and equilibrium in a hostile climate of cloaked socialist/communist agendas.

Can you say east Timor? Again, do your homework.

Good luck

Hey Orwell,

What makes you think I haven't done my homework? Just because it doesn't happen to agree with your views?

You are quite right that the cfr/capitalist crowd is using America and Nato to make the world one big happy global nation. The problem is the communists aren't cooperating. They have their own agenda....and they are our "real enemies" as far as I'm concerned. Socialism and communism are both evils, but if I had my druthers I'd rather live in a socialist state than a communist state any day.

I just want my country back, with the Constitution restored to it's original intent.

As far as using preparers as a scapegoat, if the sheeple can be convinced that we are a threat to their 'technology worship', their ability to remain 'consumers', then, the government will be the least of our worries. We will need to fear the guy next door who knows our 'views'. The feds can count on the sheeple to deal with the subversives for them, all the while being grateful for the use of martial law (or any other planned measure, like the federal 'grab' of utilities, farms, ranches, private enterprise or anything that could be considered "the best for ALL") to protect them from the dangerous, " right-wing, gun-totin', Skoal-chewin', Christain fundamentalist, hoarding, bank-runnin' wackos". This has always been my first thought every time an official or a member of the media uses those 'key words' to describe a concerned citizen taking responsibility for themselves and those they care for. The condescending tone used and the facial expression of eyes nearly rolling back in disbelief have turned my stomach too!

Bill Clinton has drawn a line in the sand on a number of occasions and taunted us to "just *dare* cross it" :

"cowering in churches waiting for the world to end....determined to buy desert land and hoard gold, bullets and Skoal in their pickup trucks." (now THERE'S a considerate, thoughtful, respectfully high opinion of his fellow citizens....friggin' worm)

How about the quote that came from the Naval(?) official, describing Jim Lord as a, "Right-wing extremist"? Just one more 'line' drawn by this corrupt, socialist administration, "Go ahead....make our day. Cross it. We'll chew you doomers up and spit you out like limp lettuce. You won't be able to attend the next PTO meeting in your neck of the woods."

Keep it up, Billy-boy. Patriots have had a belly full of you (and your little wife TOO). You can only shove so much crap down people's throats before they regurgitate. That isn't a threat, just merely an observation, and it's not just you. Every single one of your enablers (administration, supporters, media, entertainment industry, special interest groups, on and on) are about to be thrown up on..........of course, you all could always get ahold of your attorneys and sue them.
