I watched DEEP IMPACT again last night....

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Made me cry. I watched the ending scenes where people were trapped on the freeways, nowhere to go, nowhere to hide.

(I NEVER cry....)

God help us all if "they" aren't right.

(So much for feeling funny.)

Ah well, with the dawn comes a new day.

Dave,I watched two movies about an astroid hitting the earth. One had selected people go into a cave in Kansas City.Just the other day there was a post about stocking a cave in Kansas City with tons of MRI's,interesting.

I thought I had better post again and say the MRI's could be for Y2K.

Yeah and I watched an episode of the Jefferson's last night. There I said it. Maybe I'll watch Welcome Back Kotter tonight.

David,

I was taken by your emotion (tears) especially the never cry part. I could relate to this due to what I experienced when I watched the recent CNN live coverage on Bennet and Dodds Report.

The feeling that was coming thru the screen loud and clear was these guys are totally overwhelmed with something they cannot control. And are totally powerless to do anything about. This was soooo obvious to me that it had an immediately powerful emotional effect. (tears) and I never cry!!

Cheers my friend, D. Butts

Sorry folks. Weep not for the stupid.

Tears are human and cleansing. When I saw the movie... I cried too.

Lessons... lessons.

The one thing you CAN count on... now... is inner guidance. Suggest we all cultivate it's use. Prayer too.

*Sigh*

um, that is MRE, not MRI.

the big thing about deep impact was that the government had known about the asteroid for a long time, before the story was inadvertently broken (months folks) so, that being the case... when were they planning on telling everybody? Anyway, morgan freeman makes the statement (after being caught) that he has told our allies about it and that they too were preparing big bunkers... i don't know, but if I was prime minister of france, and teh US had not though to tell me about a giant rock hitting the atlantic i would have said something like "monsieur le president, where is your la bunkere? Ah, merci, le city de kansas? excuse moi... Francois! le retarget! le bombe de neutron, city de Kansas! Oui Oui! le bombes multiple! le Mirv! Le kilotonnes maximum!" the fact that he gave a stirring speech at the end, when NY was flushed down the toitlet doesn't make sense. His final speech should have been "folks! my fellow americans!! I have thirty tons of ENSURE! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me out! i'm sorry! i'll be a better president I swear! no. no I'll quit! that's it! I quit! YOU can be president! just remove the cement from over the bunker doors and let me out! We have women here to! I saved a few supermodels! Gold! you like gold? we moved fort knox down here! C'mon please? etc etc etc"

When it came to acting like a real president both Morgan Fairchild and Harrison Ford (Air Force One)won my respect over and above a certain other person who lacks character and principles.

When preparing "bug out bags" or "SUEs" for my family, I thought of "Deep Impact" (leaving the car on the freeway on foot) and "Red Dawn" (leaving quickly for the hills under defensive mode.)

I watched Independance Day, I sure was mad to find out that we have had an alien spacecraft all these years and "they" kept it from us. I cried when the drunken cropduster gave up his life to same the world. It dgoes to show you that you shouldn't judge people becouse of your preconcieved ideas

I also learned that you should not assume that you are having an earthquake just because your house is shaking, it could be a big giant spacecraft!!

And the movie reinforced my belief that you cannot run away from a fireball ~ it proved me right!
