The banking system needs the IRS, And a people placed under full duress. But the IRS needs compliant banks. So, if they shut down, then the system tanks. Modern taxation rests on bank compliance. I guess we can call this a digital alliance. Like a pair of drunks walking arm in arm: Full-bladder experts who have bet the farm; Both of them are hoping it will be OK When the clocks roll over into Y2K. Koskinen and Greenspan are the incarnation Of the hopes and dreams of a trusting nation. Koskinen promises and Greenspan fidgets When depositors say they don't trust the digits.
