Now Preach, I love sarcasm as much as the next man, but hey

Why would The Lord lift a nostril hair to fix a foundational system that has replaced HIM as God and Lord of Hosts?

Methinks God is going to sit this one out with a big bowl of Pop Secret and laugh at us in the hour of our calamity, as our gods of technology and convenience in which we place all our faith and trust - tumble around us.

GOD IS A JEALOUS GOD[HE SAID SO IN WORD] SOOoo! man say,s no i won,t obey-- GOD= almighty SAY,S ok. HAVE IT YOUR WAY==DISASTER. it,s called not getting it.

I laugh when I read the silly assertion that technology has replaced God........it's ludicrous! They are on two separate plains for heavens sake.............

Try to grasp the fact that God created our brains as well, an in doing so knew full well that we would use them to be creative.......

It's an utter falacy that everyone was super spiritual in the olden days and technology has changed that.....read the Gospels, which of the churches had attained perfection?

None of them.........

It must be a sad life to think that God is pissed of with you for using a toaster.............or which specific technological inventions are you talking about assuming you think God is okay with the relationship you have with your toaster.

-- Craig (craig@ccinet.ab.ca), September 30, 1999.

Craig, you are so far off the reservation you are lost and don't even know it.

When the toaster becomes more important than God, THAT is idolatry, and therefore breaks the First and Second Commandment.

Technology in itself is not sinful, but when the trust we place is in the technology and NOT on God....that is idolatry. When we ignore God and say to ourselve "Man and his marvel did this", it is idolatry.

I know you won't understand this. Your God is the one that abides sin and pride and loves and forgives everyone regardless of obedience.

What's it like to worship a carpet?

You're deceived pal, get a grip.

-- INVAR (gundark@sw.net), September 30, 1999.

INVAR, you just don't get it.......oh well.

I never said someone should worship a toaster.....give me a break....I said that anyones use of technology is neither good nor bad in itself.......not all technology is evil. There are people that have their spiritual eyes open in technologically advanced countries as there are in non-technologically advanced countries.

You throw around a concept of worshipping technology.....it's like comparing apples with oranges.

Last point...........in all the myriads of posts you have placed here, it is rare indeed to spot any love or compassion in you. As far as acts of the flesh go, I dare say I may be more succesful than you in keeping the commandments......however, my identity is not wrapped up in achieving perfection in everything I do.

I try to follow Jesus' direction: Judge not, lest ye be judged.....and Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

While you tend to lean more towards an eye for an eye.

That's fine. It would be nice, however, and speak volumes if I could ever sense any of the fruit of the spirit in you....at least occasionally!

Craig,

Never said technology in itself was evil. Neither is money (mammon). It is the use, pursuit and beholding of said things that can become idolatry, and therefore replace God. Are you going to seriously tell me that our present society and condition is anything BUT idolatrous? We worship the SELF, and CONVENIENCE and the PURSUIT OF WEALTH and EASE. We are lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. We have the form of religion...but deny the power of it.

As far as your last point of myself possesing no "love", I can care less about YOUR perception of my fruits in that which I post. I think I've said this before...it is obvious you and I do not worship the same God. You ae wrapped and steeped in tradition, wrapping yourself into the American manifestation of what God and Jesus are to be. You deny them both with your misuse of "Judge not lest ye be judged" versage. You apply it out of context and by doing so equate the permissive nature of sin to being one with God, and He has no part with darkness I assure you. God expects us to judge. He set before us life and death (right and wrong) and commanded us to "Choose life that you and your descendants may live". You cannot do this without judging right from wrong, sin from goodness. So give the claptrap "Don't judge" bullpuckey a rest. It is nothing but a bastardization of scripture, and a tool of Satan.

Your assertion that we need not strive for perfection shows your absolute ignorance of scripture. Jesus Himself stated that we were to be "Perfect as your father in Heaven is perfect." He didn't say "Try" or to "attempt" but to BE perfect. As mere humans, this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.

This is not advocating Grace through works so you can drop that feeble attempt. With the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, God works within us and the works we do will show the fruits of the Spirit. Paul warned us that "Grace without works is dead".

Americans today only worship the image of a God of love, who condems them not for evil, but loves them for who and what they are, abiding in their evil. Point out their sins and you are immediately set upon. I tell you today that you have believed a lie and a deception. God is not only a God of love, He is also a God of Wrath, and of judgement.

Read John 1:1-4. God is the same yesterday, today and even forever. If the Word (who later became the Christ), was WITH God in the beginning, and that all things were made by and done by HIM...that means that the Jesus of Love that everyone purports to worship, is the same Word that commanded Israel to slaughter their enemies both adult and infant before them, and consumed the armies of Canaan. He judged the nation of Israel, and yet will judge this nation in -kind for our disobedience.

So if you want to think that God is just hunky-dory with the United States of America, and our myriad idolatries and corruption - go ahead. It will prove a fatal mistake for most. if you don't like what I'm saying...too bad. I'm not in a popularity contest here. No one wants to hear the truth anymore...be it about God, Y2K, politics or whatever. America has become a wasteland of desolate evil, and we are about to get our due.

Oh and BTW Craig, ...if you're hoping to one day see the fruit of what YOU consider to be spiritual in me...don't hold your breath. I won't measure up to your standard of what it means to be an American Christian. I will be considered too judgemental for you, and possessing no love or tolerance for this nation's evil ways.

With no apology, I submit you have a BIG surprise coming.
