"A Hell of a Fine Stopgap"

I have added a paper "A Hell of a Fine Stopgap" to my Web site, which is:

hotlink is www.crosslink.net

Responses are welcome. My e-mail address is petere@ricochet.net

I state again that I am not trying to sell anything.

When I wrote this paper, I was in sort of an "Aw screw it" state of mind. I'm sure the phraseology reflects this. Nevertheless I think it's good sound advice, for people looking at sticky wickets in Y2K end games.

Your posting has been up less than two days and is shortly going to be forced off the list, and that's just not enough time for the forum to absorb its wonderfulness. So this answer will get it in the "New Answers" list.

I do have a couple of questions, though, after reading "A Hell of a Fine Stopgap".

First, since your approach is so intuitively obvious, why aren't all organizations implementing it?

Second, what does Ed Yourdon think of your approach?
