Extremely high gasoline prices! Why? Because OPEC knows they are doomed!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

After many years of trying, OPEC has finally succeeded by all the Oil Nations sticking together and producing less oil to raise oil prices.

They know they are doomed in 3 1/2 months and are squeezing as much money out of us as they can before December 31. After that the flow of oil will stop, and they know it!

This is why the price of gasoline is the highest it has ever been!

And then there will be fierce wars to secure those precious oil reserves.

Predictions of my own: The flow of oil will continue in the new year. Producers of all commodities will continue trying to get the best price they can. Consumers will continue to gripe about prices. Wars will continue happening for all sorts of reasons, though increasingly over water supplies rather than oil in areas like the middle east.

Let me be the first: Is that you, al-d?

-- Dave (aaa@aaa.com), September 21, 1999.

Freddie, you are absolutely right, and all they need is a convenient excuse such as Y2K, whether there are real problems or not.

Hey Al-d!

Congratulations on almost curing the comma affliction.

Why is it you can spell "social upheaval", yet you inform us of pending "earthquacks". (Mental image of skyscraper-sized ducks waddling through New York as the masses scream and panic.)

You,are = inconsistently wierd, Al-d, but =good,laugh sometimeZ

Mr. Freddie:

SAID: "Thats why the price of gasoline is the highest it has ever been!!!"

Freddie, It is sometimes intimidating to post on this forum, due to the obvious brain power that resides here. Which is why alot of us continue to frequent the forum. (to be close to the light)

This statement of yours is totally and profoundly inaccurate- do you know what the bbl. price of sweet brent crude is trading at today? It is far from the highest level ever.

That will probably come with the first cold snap or refinery explosion later this year!!!

Greed probably does play a significant role, however I haven't heard anyone discuss the degrading value base of the US debt backed dollar. If I could have for payment a gold backed currency or gold for my crude, I most certainly would want that over US funny money, or I would at the very least want a lot more of the funny money for my barrels of oil while I could still transfer it into something truly valuable.
