Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan said the chance of a major economic problem occurring because of a Y2K computer bug is "negligble." How confident are you that he's right? Very confident 2378 35.7% Somewhat confident 2553 38.4% Somewhat dubious 1171 17.6% Very dubious 552 8.3% Total votes: 6654 If economic disruptions do occur after Jan. 1, 2000, which do you think is more likely to have caused them? Panic by consumers and business owners 4756 71.4% Computer glitches 1470 22.1% Not sure 438 6.6% Total votes: 6664 Just in case, the government is printing extra currency to give to banks toward the end of the year. Be honest: do you plan to keep some extra cash around the house come New Year's... just in case? Yes 3972 59.6% No 1824 27.4% Hadn't thought of it, but now that you mention it... 865 13.0% Total votes: 6661 The spin is working, as 71% say panic will cause the problems, not bad code. Over 70% plan to have some extra cash around. Now, how much did GN say we can all have before the house of cards falls down?

Better set the "banks are the safest place" spin into overdrive. That part isn't sinking in yet with most of the sheeple.

Skeptics of the administration's "bump in the road" party line are still hanging around 10%. If this percentage accurately represents the motivation of millions of americans to ACT to protect themselves, it doesn't matter what the other 90% THINK because all the posturing and pontificating in the world will not save the banks.
