Is 25 pounds a maine coon?

I found Bosco on my 24th birthday. I already had two cats so I said no way but someone insisted that since it was my birthday the he must be a present from God. Yes I am a sucker, so I kept him. He weighed 1.8 pounds when I found him, he now weighs 25. He is the sweetest most loveable thing with the sharpest claws of all of my now 4 cats. We are pretty sure he is a maine coon, however he does not like water. He does like to lay down and eat from his food bowl very regularly. But the question is, can 25 pounds be considered a lion instead of a mc?

That's cute, Rachel and Jana! 25 lbs is a very big size for any cat although Maine Coons can certainly reach that size. The main thing is to check and see if the 25 lbs. is FAT or MUSCLE!! Does he have a lot of flab on him or is he a lean critter?!! If you see any flabby bits, do your cat a favour and put him on a diet. If he is in good condition and your vet is not concerned about his weight, just enjoy having a small lion in your household.....one who is hopefully friendly! Good luck.

I have a maine coon who is now 11 years old and has weighed up to 18lbs. As he may have some fat on him, he is just a very big cat. He is very loveable and loyal to our family, we live on a farm and he runs and hunts like a dog. He follows us around the fields, but loves to be picked up and carried high on your shoulder also. He rules the house in a very polite way. I love this cat as much as any I have ever had. I would like to get another Maine Coon when the time comes to get another cat, although this one, being part human, I don't know if I will ever replace.
