9999 was never a problem....today is 09/09/99

Was 9999 EVER a problem? I am not so sure. The Media played it as if we should be looking for problems, and now that there were none.....they want the public to believe Y2k will be the same....a non-event. I wonder who will bare the blood of those who die because of "their" assurances that Y2k will be nothing different than 9999. Many will turn from the idea of preparation due to the SPIN going on in the media. Too bad for them that fall prey to the spindoctors.

Sam,

I wouldn't worry too much about that. Due to the poor coverage the ENTIRE issue has gotten, most people aren't even aware of the "nines". I talked to a friend in Chicago a few weeks ago, who is making lots of preps for Y2K. I asked, in a flip way, if she was ready for the "nines", and her response was, "What's that?"

The same is true of other "also ran" dates, like federal budget rollover. It's the one "good" aspect of non-awareness.

This has been a big topic here all day. Myself, and I dare say that most of the techs here, have always said that today may cause a few wacky problems, but no big deal.

We know that the NERC drill today was just that, but the media says it's the second big-deal test of the power grid.

One year age, Jane Garvey of the FAA said that the FAA was 99% done, with phase 2. The media said 99%, period.

Seems to me that the media is a big problem here.

Tick... Tock... <:00=
