Many have successfully been lulled back to sleep...way to go Kosky!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

In a random, VERY unscientific "survey" around the office today, the buzz phrase seemed to be "Yeah, I heard 9/9/99 is supposed to be a real "acid test" for Y2K." I felt like screaming GO BACK TO SLEEP! Once again, the sheeples have been "drugged" by double-speak and media brainwashing. Needless to say, I returned home today with a very sick feeling in my stomach simply because so many people still ride in that gigantic boat containing the word D-E-N-I-A-L on the tail. Congrats to Koskinen, and all the powers-that-be for a successful remediation of the majority of sheeples empty minds. Sorry folks if I sound a little 'edgy."

FOX News here in the NYC area ran a teaser "Worse than Y2K?" referring to 'the nines'. I just changed the channel...

Yes, I got an email from a brother in law tonight about the subject. Hadn't heard from him in months. Not even bad jokes.

So I answered back, agreeing that this was a bogieman. [G]

As Ed Yourdon predicted earlier this year, the most likely scenario for y2k is a gradual unwinding of today's business efficiencies resulting in a 10 year depression. The "3-day storm" is a convenient metaphor for those who cannot or will not understand the severity of the y2k effect on the present "bubble mania" economy. Slowly but surely the media, stock market speculators, government officials and the average person will be exposed to the true nature of y2k. They will find that it is indeed a timebomb, but one whos detonation does not take place on a particular date, but rather is an explosion in slow motion, the effects of which are frighteningly cumulative.

Thorazine, mass hypnosis or whatever, it seems to be working.

Who really cares if someone else buys a years supply of toilet paper ? I mean if your next door neighbor came home with several cases of TP, would you feel obliged to scold him for it ?

Or if your neighbor buys a kerosene space heater in the middle of summer, would you feel that you owe it to him to give a good tongue lashing, to put him in his place ? For heavens sake surely he doesn't need all of that TP or a heater.

Of course we wouldn't try to do this, and why ?

Because it's his business and his money !

Why is it that some people, for example J. A. Koskinen and others, feel that they should try to prevent someone else from doing anything at all ?

My answer to them is simple..

BUTT OUT

Yup, market still way up, money still in the banks. Everything's just fine. I gave K an A.

When I saw CNN promoting 9/9/99 as a possible "problem" date today, I was torn between wanting to hurl something at the tv or in the toilet. You have to marvel at their audacity.

It's like Ben Franklin said about Christianity,

"Christianity is a lot like snake venom.......some people get just enough of it to make them immune to the real thing."

Now insert y2k: "Y2k is a lot like snake venom.....some people get just enough of it to make them immune to the real thing."

9999 is just a little more snake venom!
