If any of you in Texas can get out to hear Geri, you won't regret it. I caught her seminar and she has ALL the answers for your non-hybrid seed, and garden questions. Plus you meet others who are up on y2k.

Hi to all!

It has been an insanely busy and challenging summer here at The Ark Institute. The severe drought has been all but impossible to deal with in our huge gardens. There isn't enough water in the county to hand water it all :), so lots of outstanding corn seed stock was lost. As I have suggested to so many of you on the Non-hybrid Gardening Forum and privately, you should never plant all of your seed in any season, at any single planting, and we didn't here at Ark. We have plenty left over for next season and pray there will be sufficient rain for it then.

The other thing that has kept me personally hopping this summer has been the seminar series I was determined to do before Y2K. I have been on the road--a lot--and am now on to Texas this week. I am doubtful of trips after these three, so if you are near Dallas/Ft.Worth, Houston or San Antonio, it would be great if you could come out. Response has been fantastic, as both myself and Jim Rhoades, a dried food storage expert from PermaPak, have been giving it our "all". LOTS of valuable information on survival gardening, food canning/preserving and water storage/purification. Jim actually sets up a buffet of prepared hot and cold storage foods, so you can snack on some real long-term survival fare and ask lots of questions.

One of things I am going to miss greatly come the roll-over (or sooner) is the opportunity to travel and meet so many GOOD people. That has been the one big positive that has come of this Y2K mess--meeting so many solid, centered, focused, giving and often spiritual people. I consider myself blessed by the experience.

There are also many significant developments occurring with respect to the Terminator gene technology--good and ominous developments. While many nations are vowing or legislating to reject the Terminator and its ill-conceived cousins from their seed and crops, a recent United Nations decision is now poised to permit the punishment--via severe trade sanctions--of any country rejecting these seed-, independence- and freedom-killing technologies. It's a lose/lose proposition for countries who wish to retain their God-given, natural and sovereign rights to reject what could be a life-threatening technology. More about this in my next Food Supply Update.

I will be talking about the latest on potential Y2K impacts on the food supply and about the Terminator technologies at the seminars in Texas in the next few weeks, but perhaps equally important to you, will be the intensive workshops on Survival Non-hybrid Food Gardening and Food Preservation/Canning in these 2-evening, free seminars. Please, if you live nearby, come, or if you have friends and relatives who do, encourage them to come. Again, they are free of charge.

One of the toughest things we have faced in planning these seminars in the past has been to know how big a room we need, and how many seats. Would you please help us out and call Preparedness 2000's toll free number, below, to tell us how many seats you want reserved? These are the people handling all of the details for myself and Jim Rhoades. This will insure we will have enough seats for everyone. You all, via email, will have first shot at a seat before the general public hears about it on the radio, so please call your friends, decide who's committed to coming, and reserve seats quickly. Some seminars have been standing room only. The toll free number to call for reservations for all of these seminars is 1-888-320-3663. Here are the dates, times and locations. If you can come, plan to come both days, as I have organized the seminars as parts I and II:

Dallas/Fort Worth area, September 9th and 10th at the Windham Arlington (formerly the Marriott), 1500 Convention Center Drive, Arlington, TX 76011. Their telephone number is 817-261-8200. On both evenings, the program begins at 6:00 PM. Again, call Prep. 2000 at 888-320-3663 for your reservations.

Houston, September 13th and 14th, at the Marriott West, 13210 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079. Doors will open on both nights at 5 PM. The hotel's phone number is 281-558-8338. Call Preparedness 2000's toll free number, above, to reserve your seats.

San Antonio, September 23rd and 24th, at the San Antonio Marriott River Walk, 889 E. Market St., San Antonio, TX 78205. Hotel telephone: 210-224-4555. Please call Preparedness 2000's toll free number, above, to be sure to reserve a seat at this free event. Doors will open at 5:00 on both evenings.

Please come. Bring all of your gardening, canning, food and water storage questions. This will be an excellent opportunity to get them all answered. Now is the time. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible..... Geri Guidetti, The Ark Institute

She is absolutely right.

However, next year many first-time gardening GIs will sow all they have, and one severe drought combined with diseases and insects could wipe out their crops.

THEN what would they eat?

YOUR food!

Got pitchforks?
