Tired of "Server too busy"?greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread |
Think it has something to do with so many OT posts?

More likely, it has to do with the quietly rumbling slow motion explosion of interested lurkers. HOPEFULLY, some of them will prepare for a bit more than a 3-day bump.Chuck

I'd guess, but don't know, that we share this server with all the other forums listed. Since they continue to grow in number, it's a traffic jam.

To Dog Gone:I was thinking exactly the same as you, but then it seemed I could get into the preps forum OK when I was running into difficulty here. Was this just luck or my imagination?

lane,i consider myself a bit of a "server" and have found over the years that i can never be "too busy". it all has to do with having the right attitude.

Been wondering about that. I think MIT's network managers may have limited the bandwidth this system can acquire.

Lane:Try logging on in the morning when traffic is lighter. Mid afternoon seems to be the heaviest time.

corrinel: wouldn't you rather just service me rather than getting all muddy with KOS?
-- A (A@AisA.com), August 28, 1999.
Lane:Between Noon and 2:00pm don't even try it...too many people log on during lunch (JMHO). And Don't try between 3:00 and 5:00pm-- sometimes you can get on, but you can get "kicked off" just as quickly. I usually log on around 9am and 5-6pm.
(like your articles btw :-)
