NAVY Report makes NEWSWEEK!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

On page 4 of the August 30 edition of Newsweek, "Y2K Bug" gets an UP arrow in the Conventional Wisdom Column entitled "Special Nose For News Edition.

"Old: Chill out, it's under control.

New: Navy report sez stock up on batteries and water."

Well, at least SOME lamestream outlet carried it!

Then it's glossed over with The Buzz on page 6: "Y2K? Because We Like You!"

More rubbish with stupid catch phrases.

I'm not renewing my subscription.

Find out who owns Newsweek, lock stock and barrel. Then you'll understand their reporting.

Forrest -

The Post has been as good as any paper on Y2K, and better than most. They were the first major to publish the AP report on Jim Lord's "Y2K Pentagon Papers". What makes you think the Grahams are handling the reporting on this issue less well than, say, the entirely clueless Knight-Ridder chain?

Heck, San Diego's Copley-owned Union-Tribune didn't run anything at all on the Navy report. Nothing! We got more Navy files in this town than Carter has little pills, but the U-T does a "hear no evil, speak no evil" on a Navy report. *grumble* *mumble* *mutter*
