I find it fascinating that Jim Lord has been accorded the Linda Tripp treatment by the NY Times, and of course numerous individuals on this site. We all wondered who was still approving of Clinton's job rating when they are right under our nose participating in this forum.

It really is an amazing study in human nature. "I will not tolerate the broadcast of any information which interferes with my own little world of personal peace and prosperity, or forces me to confront horrific possibilities such as my President being a rapist, a pervert, a liar, or whatever, or, my loved ones dying of hunger or thirst. In fact, I will smear, impugn, and otherwise discredit and embarass even straight laced teetotaling Mormans and cast them as right wing militia extremists seeking the downfall of society to justify my smearing, impugning, and discrediting. To consider the assertions is to open myself to the possibility that they are true which would disrupt my comfort zone and force me to confront the horror. That is what I refuse to do and anyone who continues to promulgate same is an enemy of the state.

Ladies and gents, it is now, unfortunately, every man or woman for himself. This is what it has come to. The citizenry has served notice that the Linda Tripp treatment is endemic to this society and you are putting yourself at risk if you try further to warn these stiff-necked people about the chasm ahead. Lie low, pray for your loved ones, and prep like hell in the days remaining.

Yes - Bokonon, he is solely responsible for the mess we are in:

ONE: If we could trust him and his administration to ever say the truth, there would be no mistrust and doubt. Instead, his entier administration, an devery program and every public statement has been a lie since the begining. Every public act done by this man has been hidden behind false statements, has been based on "what hte public wants to know" based on polls, and has masked bad news in demonstrably wrong press releases.

In short, he cannot be trusted to ever say the truth, because he never has said the truth in the past 7 years.

TWO. If he had acted promptly and properly when notified in 1994 and 1995, the program would have been fixed, implemented, and tested with no problems and with no chance of a crisis. All it would have taken was a single order (he's signed many for the UN and China, but none for the US in this effort) that would have required all companies doing business with the government to be compliant by June 1999. (Or earlier.) To become compliant, each company would have to ensure itself and its venders were compliant, and since the fed's spend 25% of our GNP, the economy would have been protected.

THREE. The current crisis is because it is too late to fix everything, and that the true state of testing and remediation is utterly unknown (worldwide, and locally.) Clinton is (as shown by the Lord report) only interested (again) in hiding the degree of risk - not in getting people to prepare for any degree of uncertainity.

People will only prepare - reluctantly and against their wishes - only if told forcefully and often. Even then, many will ignore the warning. Clinton's "winter storm" is meaningless and soft - useless in getting people to do soemthing unpleasent and "un-rewarding."

Hell, he's put more effort in getting people to put on sun-screen than prevetning possible dehyration, hunger, and frost.

Now, if the upcoming troubles occur, as many expect, then his handlers and the press will immediately blame right-wing extremisits, hoarders, fanatics, and ultra-militant, fundementalist Christians - as they (cpr and his crew) already have - for all the trouble they (the Clintonista's) caused by discouraging adequate preparations for uncertainity.

The press will only notice if Washington, New York City, or LA is striken - an deven then, they will blame the right-wing extremisits, hoarders, fanatics, and ultra-militant, fundementalist Christians for the riots and anarchy, rather than the corrupt inner-city (Democratic) governments and the rioters themselves.
