Hump Airfields in India

greenspun.com : LUSENET : US Army Air Force In the C-B-I Theater : One Thread

My father, Charles L. Vorst joined the Army Air Corps in April 1943 from Rensselaer, NY. He built hump airfields in Dinjan, and/or Darjeeling in thge Assam province of India. He may have been assigned to any of several Aviation Engineering Battalions with the 10th Army Air Force. He was honorably discharged in November 1945, his highest rank attained was PFC. His recored at the repository was destroyed in a fire, and I am looking for any information, and would love to hear from veterans who can tell me about the units that built these hump airfields.

My father died several years ago, and as part of my genealogy research, I am trying to piece together his contribution to this great country of ours. Please help.
